Rosa Novo is the Employee Benefits Director in the Office of Risk and Benefits Management for the Miami-Dade County School Board, the fourth largest school system in the nation with 35,000 full and part-time employees and 355,000 students.
Mrs. Novo’s 32-year career with the District includes the administration of the District’s self-insured healthcare plan, the second largest expenditure in the District, the cost of which is $326 million, the annual cost of offering healthcare coverage to 71,000 covered lives (37,000 employees plus dependents and 8,600 retirees plus dependents.)
Additionally, Mrs. Novo is responsible for creating strategic health and wellness programs. Mrs. Novo has created the District’s employee wellness program – Well Way. Her wellness focus is to increase awareness of both benefits and personal health status while establishing and maintaining a workplace that encourages environmental and social support for a healthy lifestyle.
Mrs. Novo received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Service Administration from Barry University. Mrs. Novo has been a member of the Florida Health Care Coalition since 2008, and a Board Member since 2017. Additionally, she serves as the District’s representative in Cigna Health Care Disparity Council, through the Miami-Dade County Health Department is a member of the Worksite Wellness Committee, Health Promotion and Disease Management Committee, Worksite Smoking Cessation Committee, plus other associations and consortiums.
